Greenwich Arrows on Target!

| The Fletchers’ Trust has recently agreed to help fund the start up of a club for disabled children in Greenwich and in January the official opening took place in the Waterfront Leisure Centre.
The driving force behind the idea is Sharon Brokenspire and the new archery club is part of her existing organisation, the south london special league (sl-sl.co.uk) The children meet up once a week and are coached by Maggie Woolfe, a specialist in disabled coaching and affiliated to archerygb. Helping at the opening was John Cavanagh, a gold and silver paralympist and, of course, an Honorary Freeman of the Company. He was able to help advise the children and show them his gold and silver medals. This is the first such venture the Trust has supported it is already oversubscribed! Known as the Greenwich Arrows, the club has just been awarded the “Inspire” mark and can use a version of the Inspire Paralympic logo. Any moment now the second, similar club should open in Hackney. Tread softly because you tread on my dreams. Click here for pictures of the of the club. |
