| 9 January The Master attended the Lord Mayor and Lady Mayoress’ Children’s Fancy Dress Christmas party at Mansion House. The Master was accompanied by Anna (7) and Jessica (10) who were dressed beautifully as a Flamenco Dancer and Juliet (of Romeo and Juliet fame) respectively. Apart from a delicious tea, there were animals to see, including 2 flying owls and reptiles including a python which the children were able to handle, as well as many other attractions such as a clown and party games.
11 January The Master attended the Feltmakers’ Plough Monday dinner in Vintners’ Hall. 12 January The Master attended the Plaisterers’ dinner for Masters and Clerks at Plaisterers’ Hall. 14 January The Master chaired a Court meeting before hosting a Court dinner in the style of a Burn’s Night in our Hall. There was traditional food and drink accompanied by bagpipe music, addressing the haggis, music by Pastorella and a toast to the Immortal Memory, very kindly arranged by Past Master Bob Upton. 15 January The Master and his wife Anne attended a lunch given by the Worshipful Commpany of Framework Knitters in Ironmongers’ Hall. 18 January The Master and Clerk attended a briefing day arranged by Christ Hospital School near Horsham. 20 January The Master attended a lunch hosted by the Master Butcher at Butchers’ Hall to mark the winding up of the Lord Mayor and Sheriffs’ Committee, aptly named the “Snuffing Out” lunch to contrast the activity from the “Lighting Up Dinner”. 28 January The Master attended the annual lecture of the Tinplate Workers alias Wire Workers at the City University. The lecture was about Virgin Galactic, the company set up by Richard Branson to pioneer tourist travel in space and it was delivered by the Company’s President. 29 January The Master and his wife Anne attended the Curry Lunch of the Honourable Company of Master Mariners aboard HQS WELLINGTON at Victoria Embankment. |
