| 30 November The Master and Mistress Fletcher attended the first evening of the Red Cross Christmas Market at Guildhall. The event was well attended by Fletchers many of whom were instrumental in assisting Gloria Neal with the highly successful ladies clothing stall which raised some £5000 for the Red Cross. 2 December The Master had been invited to attend the Basket Makers dinner in Drapers’ Hall but due to ill health was unable to attend; the Fletchers were represented by the Clerk. 9 December The Master attended a meeting of the Finance Committee. The Master then hosted the annual Christmas lunch at the Hall. The Company’s guests included the Senior and Weapons Engineer Officers, Commanders Nick Boyd and Paul Walton Royal Navy respectively of DEFENDER, our affiliated ship, which is a Type 45 destroyer being built on the Clyde. Colonel Nigel Easton represented our Army affiliation, the Royal Regiment of Fusiliers and Wing Commander Caroline Purdom RAF represented our affiliated unit of the Royal Air Force, RAF Northolt. The Master presented the Fletchers Golden Arrow award to Flight Lieutenant Mark Adams RAF. The Master attended the Lord Mayor’s 800th Anniversary Awards Trust at Mansion House. The aim of the awards is to provide the opportunity for young people between 17 and 25 years of age to broaden their experience and to develop confidence and ability for the future. The award was won by Fiona Brown for her year‘s work in Cambodia to provide hope for Cambodian children. 10 December The Master attended a concert by Stile Antico of Renaissance and early Baroque unaccompanied choral music around Thomas Tallis’ 7 part Mass at Christ Church Spitalfields, with proceeds going to the Spitalfields Music Learning and Participation programme 2010. 14 December The Master attended a lecture and reception at Guildhall to mark the 800th of London Bridge at Guildhall. 15 December The Master and his wife, accompanied by the Clerk and Honorary Assistant Alistair MacKenzie attended a tasting at the Hall for the Ladies’ Banquet on 3 February 2010. The Master then attended a meeting of the Charity Committee followed by a meeting of the Membership Committee, also at the Hall. 20 December The Master and his wife and guests attended the annual Service of Nine Lessons and carols at the Priory Church of St Bartholomew the Great during which he read a lesson. He then hosted an informal supper at the Hall. 21 December The Master accompanied by his wife Anne and 5 other masters and their wives attended the Christmas Lunch of the Honourable Company of Master Mariners onboard HQS WELLINGTON. 22 December The Master and his wife Anne attended the annual Christmas Banquet of the Royal Society of St George City of London Branch at Mansion House. The banquet was also attended by the Lord Mayor and the Lady Mayoress, the Sheriffs and their wives and the Resident Governor of the Tower of London, Major General Keith Cima CB and his wife. |
