Archery Opportunities

Archery at Noak Hill
There is an opportunity to experience a day of archery twice a year at Noak Hill Archery Club, just off the M25/A12 junction, where very patient and skilled instructors from the Club initially take us through target archery and then field archery.   Anyone is welcome from raw beginner to experienced archer alike and we have the benefit of full use of the clubhouse and are provided with a substantial cold buffet lunch and tempting afternoon tea at the end of the day.   Tea and coffee are provided through the day, which is especially welcome if the weather is inclement!   Members are informed of the dates each year by PM Lesley Agutter, who organises the days, but anyone interested can contact her at any time at

Shoot against the Bowyers’ at the Tower of London
The Company is privileged to have the opportunity to shoot in the Moat of the Tower of London, and each year there is a keenly contested shoot between the two Companies.  After the shoot competitors retire the Mess of Royal Fusiliers before concluding the evening with the Ceremony of the keys.

In addition to the much loved archery activities at Noak Hill and the Tower, 2017 saw two new archery experiences for Fletchers which could well become annual fixtures.  First, we were challenged to a field shoot by the Master Joiner at an event that was designed to be beginner friendly as well as being a competition.  Second, on the back of the first Fletchers’ Disability Championships week-end organised by Archery GB, our hosts thought that it would be a good idea to get the Fletchers to shoot too!!  This started out being described as a “competition” of Fletchers v Para athletes,  we started calling it a “fun shoot” reflecting our nervousness and finally it was organised as a pairs “pro am” competition with teams made up of one Fletcher and one Para at which we were well represented by some of our more experienced archers.  Next year may well see a return, after a gap of a few years, to Perk’s Field, adjoining Kensington Palace, for a family event.  Some of our archers have also been making the occasional “research” trip to check out other facilities and archery experiences which may lead to more challenges in due course.

The Company also sponsors an annual competition between elite archers  from all over the country, which is held at The Royal Toxophilite Society in September.

Excellence in Fletching

We have not forgotten our roots, and, in conjunction with the Craft Guild of Traditional Bowyers and Fletchers we award Certificates of Excellence in the Fletchers' Craft.

Royal Toxophilite Society

The Worshipful Company of Fletchers is honoured to be able to use the grounds of The Royal Toxophilite Society to hold two annual shoots:  Fletchers Day for Archers with Disability and Fletchers Day for Elite Archers.
