Past Master, Mr Stuart Robbens

Past Master, Mr Stuart Robbens was installed on 21 April 2020. The Master is elected for a year and presides at all our functions.

The Worshipful Company of Fletchers is led by the Master aided by a Court of Assistants and the Clerk. Our current Master is Mr Stuart Robbens, who was installed on 21st April 2020. The Master is elected for a year and presides at all our functions.

Stuart, a “Man of Kent” has lived in the village of Hildenborough for more than 60 years, having been in business in the nearby town of Sevenoaks.  He is married to Margaret and they have two children, Alexandra and Andrew, both of whom are married themselves and have three and two daughters respectively. 

From the late 1960’s Stuart owned and managed travel agencies from their Sevenoaks head office, specialising in both Leisure and Corporate travel services.  From the mid 1970’s he organised Government supported Trade Missions worldwide and became a regular visitor to the Gulf States and the Levant leading groups of UK companies to introduce them to the lucrative Arab markets.  He led the first Trade Mission into Kuwait and the Gulf States after the first Gulf War and organised regular Trade Missions to Lebanon, Syria, Jordan, Iran, Libya, South Korea and various African countries.  He served for a number of years on the Government Trade Advisory Group COMET (Committee for Middle East Trade) and published on their behalf “Opportunity Middle East”, an export promotional magazine. 

He now manages his family property company from his home in Hildenborough.  He is a member of the Society for the Protection of Ancient Buildings (SPAB) through which he is able to further his interest in architecture (particularly Arts and Crafts).  His interests, as well as that of the City of London, also extend to art, crafts and Archaeology.
